The latest update includes remarkable changes to the resolution test and some minor modifications. The update is strongly recommended for all the users. Note that the support for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Windows XP has been dropped. Frame 1.5 will be the last version of the first generation of Frame and we have already started the development of Frame 2.0 which will be released during 3Q10. We have not yet determined all the features of Frame 2.0 and if you have any suggestions, please send email to feedback@katelabs.com.

We have made some changes to the price and license conditions of Frame. As a consequence, we have also modified the net store remarkably. The new net store uses PayPal. As a consequence, you can pay with most common credit cards or with PayPal. If you want to pay with a bank transfer or you want an offer for a company license, please send email to info@katelabs.com.

Frame 1.3.3

Sami Maisniemi - Friday, April 2, 2010

The latest update includes a bug fix for the color accuracy test. We have decided to deliver only bug fixes to the current version, because versions 1.4 and 1.5 will be released in the near future. Version 1.4 will deliver improvements to the color accuracy test and the reporting capabilities. Version 1.5 will deliver remarkable improvements to the resolution test and especially to the resolution charts. We have also started the development of version 2.0, but the features have not been fully determined. We have decided not to provide any kind of time schedules, because we want to make sure that the deliveries are properly tested. The purpose of the decision is to focus on the quality of the deliveries instead of focusing on artificial time schedules.

Frame 1.3

Sami Maisniemi - Monday, January 18, 2010

Frame 1.3 was released for a while ago. The release was once again a few weeks late, because we found some critical bugs just before the release. As a consequence, we have decided to change the development methodology. In the future we will release frequent updates. The version control will be modified accordingly. The new methodology allows us to release new features after they have been fully tested without relying on artificial time schedules. We believe that the new methodology helps us to deliver new features within reasonable time without compromising quality.

Frame 1.3 includes several additions and modifications. For example, the support for the reference files has been extended and the user can create custom color charts. However, the most remarkable change is related to the licensing of the application. Frame Essentials includes all the features and the price of the license is 99€. Frame Lite includes all the tests and the most common test charts, but the license is free. We believe that Frame Lite will be a great success among the hobbyists who need an affordable method to test any kind of imaging devices from scanners to cameras. We promote all the hobbyists to test the application and to send feedback and comments, which help us to develop the application.
